8-14-'45/USA

ON THIS DAY
On Aug. 14, 1945, President Truman announced that Japan had surrendered unconditionally, ending World War II.

Yesterday I heard on NPR that there are 175,000 new blogs created each day.
Data has been collected since 2002. Half of these will fade into non-existence.
Of course I am unable to cite the source.
I don't listen to the radio with pen in hand.
Given that the majority of new blogs are not in English, according to this report, I will be putting "USA" in my titles from now on- it's a time saver for Global Readers.

This morning I will get myself to local clinic for blood drawing. Tomorrow I will see the endo who will give me a once over, look at the lab report and decide if I should have the 10 year scan. I don't remember why I made this appointment on this date a year ago- but there it is. Renew scrips.
On the 22nd we will be attending a Tigers vs White Sox game- Tigers have been consistently losing over the past week- so it will be a nail-biter, not the sure-win we expected a week ago.
In the meantime- many are holding our breath hoping this cease -fire will take affect on the Lebanese border.
Some of us are paying close attention to the Election primaries.
I have decided to boycott Barnes and Noble & Joseph Banks; both have ads on the Glenn Beck show and the R. L... web pages through deals with a subsidiary of Clear Channel- one of the worst entities to come out of this gov't+media deal.
On the 25th we will travel - a 5 hour drive, to attend Erika's wedding to John.
Everyone here is excited about seeing all of our old friends on the 26th & 27th.
We are happy to introduce Sophia and Allison to 'the gang' from the 'old same place'.
Be happy........enjoy this day.
