shoot, then ask questions/Gangs of New York

http://www.alternet.org/waroniraq/21437/

I think this may be the final straw - the attempted
murder of the Italian reporter/freed hostage and the death of an Italian intelligence officer.
Are there no phones in Iraq? No white flag waving ?
The bombing of the journalist's hotel in Baghdad comes to mind.

Why would I believe a gov't/military with a history of lying
over a reporter who was a primary witness ?
- war is war- but there have been 2 too many of these
friendly fire 'accidents' targeting journalists.
Do you know how many journalists have perished in this 'war' ?
Look it up.
I say it's time to impeach this administration.

The attempt to raise the min wage on the back of the bankruptcy bill,
failed. There has been no raise in 8 years.
32% of the work force are actually receiving 5.15.
Arlen Specter was kept from voting by the Pres. He was in PA w/him at the time of the Kennedy vote and says he would have voted for it- which means other junior republicans may have crossed over with his lead. Shifty POTUS.

finally found the time to watch Gangs of New York.
Martin S's : academy award nomination 2002.
Way too much blood and gore for me ....as usual.
but certainly worth the price of admission.
Carmen Diaz was superb- as was Leonardo & the entire cast.
I had never known that Irish immigrants were immediately drafted to serve the Union as soon as they stepped off the boat; that the insurrection over the draft
in lower manhattan was the largest in our history.

Rocky: is driving me crazy. I bought 2 rawhide whatever they are called-
chew toys ? Anyway - he is so demanding of my attention, I am constantly interrupted
to 'play' and 'pet'. This morning I had to give him one to keep him occupied: like a human toddler- if I sit at the pc- he seems to think I am free to pay attention to him.
DH walks him every day. DH is out of town. We are proud guardians of a beautiful, smart Lab/chow; keeping a dog like this is time consuming, energy draining.
Xena, feline resident, doesn't mind 1/2 as much if she is ignored. At least she let's herself out now with the slightly warmer temps.

Weekend report on the Situation at CPMC- Davies Campus, where JVB is recovering from 10 days of dehydration and what else we still don't know:
Grace D is meeting with an atty today to try to take conservatorship on behalf of JB's family of friends, so he will remain in SF and not be moved to Tx.
