Waiting

8 days.....

ON THIS DAY
On Dec. 17, 1903, Orville and Wilbur Wright took the first successful man-powered airplane flights, near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.

June 16, 1904 ..6 mos later...is the fictional date H Bloom made his little trips around Dublin while his wife sang a duet with B Boylan.

Nov 23, 2005 has been revealed as the day of 'elopement' ....not near Kitty Hawk- closer to Asheville .
this morning I was reading about complaints re: a postage stamp released Sept 1st 2001.
It says "blessed holiday" in arabic.
we rcv updates from snopes.com urban legend site which studies mostly untrue e mails that go floating around as " true"- silly stories about
Bill Gates, etc
anyway yesterday I gave myself a gift- personalized postage stamps- *_*
wow- that was fun- I could not upload the image ( file too big ) that I had had in mind- of SAL and Mena from last year at this time- so I settled for the Rocky portrait- which I know will delight a few people......as seen here....
they are not inexpensive- we won't be sticking them onto bill payment envelopes-

We have received family packages of good tidings, chocolates and cookies, so far.
I think we should start this gift-giving greeting -sending for the 4th of July- the Birth of the Nation. We already have the ubiquitous flag-stamp at the ready. It is so heart warming to receive family photo updates and news from all over the country & the globe........why can't we do this 2x/year ? Other countries take so many more vacation days celebrating lesser events- eg a tomato harvest in Spain- when people toss tomatoes at each other........I propose a Costanza- like 'Festivus' for the 4th-
what a boost to the economy !
Instead of red and green: wrapping paper of red white and blue- instead of socks and sweaters: fishing poles, sunglasses and matching plastic dinnerware for outdoor dining.....
We need to celebrate more as a nation; the emphasis on religious holidays is causing more dissension than unity. Certainly we are not proposing replacing, only supplementing.

A Peaceful celebration of Christ's birth to all ( which is historically placed in August btw )
and good wishes for the coming new year- dated from the Birth 2,006 years ago. CE
Coming to you early on a Saturday morning with below freezing temps wearing 2 sweaters, over warm pj's and woolen socks.
Cabin fever ? no- not yet- check back in Feb...............
Shalom
~~
