Dec 6.... 82 years ago
ON THIS DAY
On Dec. 6, 1923, a presidential address was broadcast on radio for the first time as President Coolidge spoke to a joint session of Congress.
.... now c-span takes us to the House and Senate every day live, audio and visual.
82 years is only one lifetime.
I know more than a few people older than this moment.
It reminds me of the days when Edward R Murrow had his show: You Are There-
dramatic reenactments of historical moments and figures with a tv camera and a microphone.....bringing history alive in the 50's.
This was an exciting use of television at the time....
Our lives have been filled with amazing leaps of technology...
without historical perspective these advances are underappreciated and
the awe factor is diminished.
now you or I, ( as well as folks intent on committing evil deeds), specks on the earth,
can communicate with the entire world at once!!!
Doesn't that AMAZE you !? It amazes me.
enjoy your day
